Parrish Family Vineyard Award Winning Wines - Some of the best 90+ Point Wines From Paso Robles

Parrish Family Vineyard has been awarded many great accolades for our 2018 vintage and noted by acclaimed wine critics as a top destination for  Adelaida Road’s best wines.

From wine-tasting experiences with delicious bites and a spectacular vineyard view to some of the best hospitality options in Paso Robles, a trip to Parrish Family Vineyard may be one of the best Paso Robles destinations for award-winning wines.

2018 Silken

The 2018 Silken is a blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 26% Petite Sirah, and 24% Syrah. The nose of the wine opens with lavender, plum, and boysenberry, which lingers into the palate of dark cherries, cocoa, and a touch of fennel. As usual, this wine is smooth and silky, making it perfect for enjoying alone or pairing with food.

2018 Four Chords

This blend features 47% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Malbec, 18% Cabernet Franc, 11% Petit Verdot representing the estate's red Bourdeaux grapes. While it is a smooth blend, it is still bold with notes of blueberry pie, plum, and nutmeg with cassis on the nose. The blend's name reflects striking a chord as the Parrish family members, David and Ethan, are musicians. David is a guitarist and Ethan is a bassist.

2018 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon

This 2018 Reserve Cabernet showcases the best Cabernet grapes of the vintage. The winemakers, David and Cody, decide which Cabernet block stood out most in Adelaida and create a single clone, block Cabernet. This wine has depth and entices the senses with notes of black currants, fresh blackberries, violets, black tea, vanilla, and hints of leather The layers of this Cabernet create a lasting finish and perfect body to savor.

Here are some of our suggestions for the best places to stay in Paso Robles:

Hill Top Guest HouseEnjoy bird’s eye views from McPrice Myers’ beautiful, modern hilltop house. This beautiful location overlooks our vineyard and property along Adelaida Road!

AirBNB

The Longhorn Lookout on Adelaida Road is the perfect place to relax and drink wine while watching our beautiful Texas Longhorns roam pasture below you. 3 separate vacation rentals, each offering 1 bedroom and 1 bathroom.

Cabin-Style Lodge by Alicia offers 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom, a fireplace, and the views of Texas Longhorn cattle roaming the fields.

Tour

Grand Cru LimousineA quick weekend or day trip is best enjoyed with someone driving you around. Don’t spend your time driving more, let them drive for you. Ask for James to take good care of you.

Visit & Enjoy

Day 1:

10:00am Red Scooter Deli - Have box lunches delivered at the house to take with you on your adventure. Red Scooter is used by many wineries and have fed us many a harvest. They offer vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free options.

10:30am McPrice Myers - Start the day tasting their Rhone wines that definitely have a fitting label, “Beautiful Earth.” You will be welcomed by their wonderful team and hopefully get to meet Mac, one of the nicest guys.

12:00pm Alta Colina - Family owned & operated winery producing beautiful Rhone wines. Enjoy their Summit Vineyard Tasting for a one-on-one experience in the vineyard.

2:00pm Adelaida Vineyards  - With a long history dating back to 1964, visit one of the first wineries along Adelaida Road. This family owned winery is known for its Pinot and Cabernet Sauvignon.

3:30pm Parrish Family Vineyard - Of course we have to be a part of your 1st day, some way! Stop by for a glass of Rosé or Chardonnay, or purchase a bottle for dinner and take in the views as golden hour will be upon us soon.

5:30pm Il Cortile - Arrive Downtown and stop in at one of our favorite restaurants in Paso Robles for house-made pasta and many delicious Italian offerings. We always recommend starting with the carpaccio which features shaved truffles (ask for a side of bread). And if it fits, enjoy our Chardonnay on the menu. Definitely make a reservation!

Day 2:

10:00am Nenow -  Owned by young siblings, this newer tasting room is worth a stop along Adelaida Road. Enjoy Viognier and Mourvedre while taking in a beautiful Nenow view.

11:30am Parrish Family Vineyard - Of course you have to stop by for the full experience. Join us for wine tasting of our Paso Robles Estate wines featuring highly scored Cabernet Sauvignon and popular blends like Silken. Along with the beautiful vineyard views from our cozy setting enjoy our food offerings crafted by our family. It truly is a family affair along Adelaida Road.

1:00pm Re:Find Distillery - Do a spirit tasting with Paso’s first distillery. From bourbon to cucumber flavored vodka, taste and become inspired to become a home mixologist. Let Monica take good care of you by making a reservation monica@refinddistillery.com.

4:00pm Joebella Coffee Roasters - Refresh with coffee at the Paso Market Walk. If Christopher is around, let him recommend the best roast or enjoy one of their many lattes (cafe miel is my favorite). Take your coffee for a little walk around the place to take in all the fun purveyors.

5:30pm Finca - Enjoy a casual and delicious dinner featuring elevated Mexican. There are so many favorites, but to name a few grilled octopus, pork belly chile verde tacos, and chip salad.

6:30pm Leo Leo Gelato - Finish up with a scoop or two of gelato or sorbet also in the Paso Market Walk.

Day 3:

11:30am Le Cuvier - Another tasting room that was one of the early pioneers of Adelaida Road, enjoy wine and food pairing experiences along with their naturally fermented wines.

2:00pm Daou - Experience their beautiful hilltop tasting room that will finish off the weekend with a view of Paso Robles. You will want to take a selfie like many of the guests before you.

Cody Alt Promoted to Winemaker at Parrish Family Vineyard!

"Growing up I never knew what I wanted to do, coming from San Diego, I didn’t have any agriculture background,” Alt said. “I got into Cal Poly, and of course you have to declare your major, so I was willing to roll the dice and figured wine would be a fun avenue to explore. Wasn’t sure if I wanted to make it, grow it, or sell it, but I chose the winemaking side and fell in love".

“What I wanted to do in college is intern in as many places as possible, be it a lab, vineyard, winemaking facility,” Alt recalls. “I wanted to be as well-rounded as possible. My goal was always to be able to run a facility all by myself, to be able to do everything. One of my favorite opportunities was interning in Germany with a biodynamic vineyard and a winemaker who won winemaker of the year a couple of years ago.

Among the many wines Alt has had the pleasure of producing during his career, one of his most exciting releases thus far was the 2017 Four Chords Bordeaux Blend from Parrish Family Vineyards. This complex and intense blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot garnered a 95-point rating from Wine Enthusiast and is a club member favorite!

“I saw an opening in our program at Parrish, we had the Estate Cab, our Reserve Cab and the Silken, but I knew the other varietals we grew and were making wines with would complement each other in a blend,” Alt says. “In the Four Chords, we were very purposeful with the development. Petit Verdot gets the mid palette, Malbec will get that fleshiness which evens it out, the Cab is the main structural component that makes it angular. I thought people would be interested in this blend, and it is very different from anything else we make. That wine was also a real test of my blending skills.”

Alt has had the privilege of working with some of the best names in Paso Robles wines, among them David Parrish. “I met David at a Taco Tuesday event years ago and he offered me a position here with Parrish Family Vineyard, and at the time I turned him down since the offer was close to harvest and I was working with another winery,” Alt recalls. “But eventually I came to my senses and found a way to join the team. David is a great mentor, he’s taught me a lot and given me every opportunity to succeed.”

“Hopefully my love and care for these wines show through,” he says. “That’s kind of your goal as a winemaker, that your passion can show through in that glass and make people happy.”
